Rod Marlatt

Chairman of the Turkey River Watershed Management Authority

Rod Marlatt is the Chairman of the Turkey River Watershed Management Authority and the former Executive Director for Fayette County Conservation in Northeast Iowa. For decades, Rod has been a tireless advocate, educator, and leader, embodying the true spirit of conservation and community development. Rod has worked for the past 41 years raising awareness about local, statewide, and national conservation issues, including water quality improvement and flood mitigation.

Rod helped facilitate the development of the Turkey River Watershed Management Authority (TRWMA), established in 2012. The TRWMA was one of the first WMAs in Iowa and has already accomplished many of its goals over the past 14 years in flood management and water quality improvement. The TRWMA has worked with local landowners, supporting on the ground conservation practices, and has also partnered with the Iowa Flood Center to implement rural practices and monitor activity within the watershed. Rod continues his advocacy and conservation work in Fayette County and Northeast Iowa, and also brings that knowledge and experience to the statewide and multi-state level.
